About

Welcome to Compound Changes – a blog that focuses on self-improvement.
Hello. It’s nice to have you. I’m Jakob and I’m excited to share my thoughts with you.
A few years ago, I learned about the principle that big changes rarely start with big moments; they begin quietly, with small, almost invisible steps. Writers like James Clear (Atomic Habits) and Steven Bartlett (The Diary of a CEO) have popularized this principle as the 1% mindset. They demonstrate that lasting development comes from small, consistent, conscious decisions in everyday life rather than radical changes.
When I heard about this, I was hooked. I was already focused on improving my fitness, nutrition, communication and productivity. But since then, I have regularly tried to integrate small improvements into my daily routine.
After a while, I realized that specific tips for adopting the 1% mindset are rare to find. To fill this gap, I created Compound Changes. It is a project that builds on the approaches of James Clear and Steven Bartlett, aimed at sharing small but meaningful changes that turn the 1% mindset into practice.
I focus on two central areas, well-being and communication, to help you feel better, live more intentionally, and connect more genuinely. Once in a while, you will also find an article about productivity. I regularly share ideas that are easy to implement, take hardly any time, but create noticeable impulses that gradually have a lasting positive impact. Every idea is grounded in science and psychology, which I reference in every post. The goal is to create positive habits that add up to something bigger over time – a real compounding effect.
In addition to each post, I created a cartoon that captures its content or approach. I did this not only because we generally remember things better and for longer when they are presented visually, but also because I was inspired by a documentary about The New Yorker Magazine and its work, and I would like to create something similar.
